Overview

Five days, three cities and the monuments that most people come to Egypt for. You fly between them so no time is lost on the road: the pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, Philae and the High Dam in Aswan, then Karnak and the Valley of the Kings in Luxor. Ideal as a first taste or as the cultural half of a longer holiday.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Day 1 · Arrive in Cairo

    Your ITTAS representative meets you inside the terminal, helps with the visa and drives you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours.

  2. Day 2

    Day 2 · Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum

    Morning on the Giza Plateau with the three pyramids, the Sphinx and the Valley Temple. Afternoon at the Grand Egyptian Museum, where the complete Tutankhamun collection is shown together for the first time.

  3. Day 3

    Day 3 · Fly to Aswan

    An early flight south. Visit the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple on its island, then sail around Elephantine Island by felucca in the late afternoon.

  4. Day 4

    Day 4 · Kom Ombo, Edfu and Luxor

    Drive north along the Nile, stopping at the river temple of Kom Ombo and the remarkably complete Temple of Horus at Edfu. Evening visit to Luxor Temple when it is lit.

  5. Day 5

    Day 5 · Luxor's West Bank and fly home

    The Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshepsut's terraced temple and the Colossi of Memnon, then Karnak before your flight to Cairo to connect with your journey home.

What to wear

Light, breathable layers for the day, a warm layer for early mornings and desert evenings, a hat and comfortable walking shoes. Shoulders and knees should be covered in mosques and churches.
